The Atlantic Wall was: The Atlantic Wall was a network of fortifications built along the French and Belgian coasts. It was formed to prevent the Allies from landing in occupied France which would have meant utter defeat for Germany. Over 400 miles of concrete barrier were constructed 300 strongpoints were manned by tens of thousands of soldiers. We had no choice but to build it so high because there is nothing more frightening than an ocean over your head. .
